Patna: Bihar suffered a 121-run defeat against Kerala in the Women’s Under-15 One Day Trophy at the KSCA Navule Stadium, Shimoga, Karnataka. Kerala, opting to bat first after winning the toss, set a target of 200 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 35 overs. Bihar, in response, were bowled out for 79 runs in 26 overs.
Kerala’s innings was anchored by Aryananda NS, who top-scored with a well-crafted 69 runs. Other contributions came from Lexida Jayan (26*), Reyna Rose VJ (25*), and Amira Begum (12). Extras also played a significant role, adding 45 runs to Kerala’s total. For Bihar, Anushka Singh was the standout bowler, taking two wickets for 34 runs, while Pratibha Sahni and Chetali Sanjit claimed one wicket each. One player was dismissed via a run-out.
Bihar’s chase started with promise but quickly unravelled. Captain Pratibha Sahni led the scoring with a fighting 30 runs off 46 balls, including three boundaries. Vice-captain Akshara Gupta added 12 runs, and Priya Raj contributed 24. However, the rest of the batting line-up faltered, with five players dismissed without scoring.
Kerala’s bowlers delivered a clinical performance, with Aritha PV taking a remarkable five wickets for just six runs. Athena Prasov Daivik and Aryananda NS each claimed a wicket, while three Bihar players were run out.
Bihar’s next match is scheduled against Haryana on 27 November.
