Patna: The second day of the Bihar State Junior Chess Championship, organized by the Gaya District Chess Association under the aegis of the All Bihar Chess Association, saw fierce competition with two rounds played. After three rounds, seven players lead the boys’ category with three points each, while Maryam Fatima and Komal Singh Muskan top the girls’ category, also with three points each.
The championship, held at Parvati Garden in Bodh Gaya, witnessed top-seeded Divyanshu Kumar Singh of Kishanganj defeating Patna’s Kartikeya Nandan on board one with the black pieces. On board two, second-seeded Aniket Ranjan of Begusarai triumphed over Yatharth Ramani of Muzaffarpur with the white pieces.
In the girls’ category, state women’s champion Maryam Fatima of Muzaffarpur defeated Kritika Ranjan of Patna on board one with the white pieces. On board two, Komal Singh Muskan of Gaya overcame Arya Sinha of Begusarai with the black pieces, securing a joint lead with Maryam.
