Patna: For the first time in India, a Neon Art Exhibition has been organized in Patna. This unique event is a collaboration between the Art Culture Youth Department and La Pintura. The exhibition showcases artwork on various themes, including global issues, goddess in costume, dancing Bhairav, the Chhath festival, and struggling children.
Over 50 stunning paintings by more than 15 artists are on display. Neon art, which appears bright and attractive under blue ray light, is created using watercolor, oil, and acrylic colors. Abhishek Kumar, director of La Pintura, explained that neon painting is distinctive due to its vibrant and glowing nature. When viewed under blue light, the paintings seem to illuminate from within.
Kumar highlighted the use of neon colors, which set this art apart from traditional methods. The exhibition features a variety of art forms, including Madhubani from Bihar, rendered in neon paint. Additionally, the exhibition includes Thanka art, a famous style from Tibet, Nepal, and Indonesia, learned through workshops conducted by La Pintura.
Following the workshop, the artists began creating neon paintings, leading to the current exhibition. Neon art, a unique and versatile color medium, is gaining popularity in Bihar and India. The exhibition aims to boost its recognition.
The artists have presented pieces on different themes with a devotional touch. Neon art exhibitions are rare in India, with higher demand abroad. This initiative seeks to engage Indian and Bihari artists in promoting neon art. Innovative use of scrap items, like umbrellas, in neon painting adds to the exhibition’s appeal.
