Historic Women’s Cricket League to Launch in Patna

Patna, May 21: On May 23, Patna and Bihar will witness a historic moment as the city inaugurates its first-ever women’s cricket league, a milestone in its 52-year cricketing history. The announcement was made by Rajesh Kumar, Chairman of the Patna District Cricket Association (PDCA) Steering Committee, and committee member Rahbar Abdin.

The league will comprise five club teams: Abdin Eleven, Renu Eleven, CMS Cricket Club, Jyoti Cricket Club, and Uma Eleven.

Matches are scheduled to take place at the Bihar Cricket Academy, located in La Martiniere World School, Sampatchak, near Patna. The games will begin at 9 AM.

Ashutosh Kumar, the head coach of the Bihar Cricket Academy, has been appointed to oversee the preparations for this significant event.

The PDCA Steering Committee will supply uniforms and balls for all participating players.

The opening match, as confirmed by Rajesh Kumar and Rahbar Abdin, will feature a face-off between Uma Eleven and Abdin Eleven.

In addition to the league’s launch, the five participating clubs will soon be granted voting rights.

Rajesh Kumar and Rahbar Abdin emphasized that this initiative represents a historic step in promoting women’s cricket in Patna and Bihar, benefiting the region’s cricket community. They reiterated the PDCA Steering Committee’s dedication to transparency, honesty, and the successful organization of the league matches, underscoring their commitment to the development of women’s cricket.
