Gaya Fall Short in First Innings as Kaimur Secure Lead in BCA Senior Men’s Cricket Tournament

Patna, May 22: Mangal Maharour of Gaya narrowly missed out on scoring a century, and his team fell short of taking the lead against Kaimur in the BCA Senior Men’s Cricket Tournament Super League match. Kaimur managed to score 283 runs in their first innings, while Gaya fell just short with a total of 278 runs in their first innings. At the end of the second day’s play, Kaimur secured a lead of 40 runs, reaching 35 runs for the loss of two wickets in their second innings in 12 overs. Notably, Gupil Rai is currently batting on 7, while Nishant Singh is yet to open his account.

During the second day’s play, Kaimur added 63 runs to their overnight score of 220 for seven wickets, eventually being all out for 283 runs in their first innings. Shivam Singh Yadav top-scored with a half-century, while Vikas Patel contributed 38 crucial runs. Noteworthy performances came from Nitish Singh and Praveen Prakash of Gaya, who both claimed four wickets each, with Nikku Singh taking one wicket.

In Gaya’s first innings, Mangal Maharour and Gautam Kumar started the innings, but Gautam was dismissed early for 10 runs by Gaurav Singh. However, Saifullah provided support to Mangal, contributing 33 runs in their partnership. Despite Mangal’s strong innings of 98 runs, he fell short of a century after being caught by Vikas Patel. Other notable contributors included Shivam Kishore with 31 runs and Narendra Prasad with 41 runs.

In response, Kaimur’s Vikas Patel proved to be the most effective bowler, claiming five wickets for 83 runs, while Dhanesh Chauhan took three wickets for 57 runs. Gaurav Singh and Diwan Danish Khan also chipped in with one wicket each.

As the second day concluded, Kaimur began their second innings, managing to score 35 runs for the loss of two wickets in 12 overs. Shashank Upadhyay scored 19 runs, and Abhishek Kumar Singh contributed 9 runs. Praveen Prakash of Gaya took both wickets.
