GAC Youth Triumph Over PESU Veterans by 5 Wickets

Patna, May 17: In a thrilling match of the Patna District Senior Division Cricket Super League, GAC youth team defeated the veteran and experienced PESU team by 5 wickets, knocking them out of the title race.

The match, held at Urja Stadium, saw PESU’s opening batsman Shasheem Rathore play a patient and impressive innings, scoring 160 runs off 106 balls, including 15 fours and 8 sixes. However, his efforts were in vain as GAC emerged victorious.

Batting first after winning the toss, PESU had a shaky start, losing their first two wickets with just 11 runs on the board. Despite the continuous fall of wickets, Shasheem Rathore and Dheeraj steadied the innings, taking PESU to a respectable total. Shasheem completed his century in just 74 balls and remained unbeaten. Dheeraj supported him well, scoring an unbeaten 43 runs off 69 balls, including 3 fours. PESU finished their innings at 264 for 6 in the allotted 40 overs. Other notable contributions came from Piyush Raj (10), Sudhanshu Kumar (16), and Kundan Sharma (10). For GAC, Kartik Pandey took 2 wickets, while Vikas Krishna, Pankaj Kumar, and Shivam Singh Rajput took 1 wicket each.

In response, GAC started strong with an opening partnership of 83 runs between Vikas Krishna and Abhishek Kumar. Vikas scored 41 runs off 37 balls, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes. After his dismissal, Abhishek, supported by Anmol Kumar Boni, continued to build the innings with another 83-run partnership. Abhishek scored 67 runs off 54 balls, including 10 fours. Anmol Kumar Boni (55 runs off 45 balls) and captain Rishabh Raj (58 runs off 33 balls) further solidified the chase, bringing GAC close to victory. Ayush Sharma also contributed a quick 30 runs off 21 balls. GAC successfully chased down the target in 32.3 overs, scoring 265 for 5. For PESU, Shasheem Rathore took 1 wicket, while Dheeraj and Babul each took 2 wickets.

The Player of the Match award was presented to Abhishek Kumar of the winning team by senior player Prem Shankar.
