Patna: The body of Sanjay Kumar Yadav, former Mukhiya of Rahu Panchayat, was found under suspicious circumstances near a borewell in the Tarwan area of Raghopur village under Bihta police station limits in Patna on Friday morning. Local residents spotted the body while heading to the fields and immediately informed the police and the deceased’s family.
A team from Bihta Police reached the spot soon after receiving the information. The Patna Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has also been called in to assist with the investigation. Police are examining all possible angles to determine whether it is a case of murder or whether there is another cause behind the death.
According to police, several serious criminal cases, including those under the Arms Act, had been registered against Sanjay Kumar Yadav. He had reportedly been absconding in connection with multiple cases for a considerable period. The discovery of his body has created tension in the area.
The deceased’s family has alleged that unidentified criminals murdered him and dumped his body near the borewell in the field. Family members are in deep mourning and have demanded justice.
Following the news of the recovery of the body, angry local residents blocked the Bikram–Bihta main road and set fire to objects on the road in protest. Police are making efforts to restore normalcy and bring the situation under control.
Bihta Station House Officer (SHO) Amit Kumar said that a detailed investigation is underway. “No visible injury marks have been found on the deceased’s body so far. We are examining every possible angle, and the forensic report is expected soon,” he said.
He added that police reached the scene immediately after receiving information about the incident and informed the Patna FSL team. “We are investigating whether this is a case of murder or whether there is any other cause behind the death. Sanjay Kumar Yadav was facing several criminal cases, including under the Arms Act, and had been absconding in multiple cases. The police are thoroughly investigating the matter,” Amit Kumar said.
