Patna: During the Chhath festival, additional police forces have been deployed throughout the state to ensure security and maintain law and order. Approximately 50 companies of additional forces have been assigned to districts from police headquarters, including 45 companies from the Bihar Special Armed Police Force (B-SAP) and five companies from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Additionally, 2,500 trainee constables have been deployed, with the largest contingent stationed in Patna.
Given the influx of people returning home for Chhath, stringent security arrangements have also been implemented at railway stations and bus terminals. Police leave has been suspended until 9 November to ensure adequate coverage for the festival. As reported, around 5,000 home guards and 2,600 trainee police officers have been deployed on top of the existing district police forces. The majority of security personnel have been stationed at Chhath Ghats and surrounding areas.
To manage the morning and evening Arghya ceremonies, security forces have been deployed in two shifts. Joint orders from the district magistrates and superintendents of police have ensured police deployment in all districts. Additionally, security arrangements are being monitored from the Police Headquarters, with the Control and Command Centre operating 24 hours a day.
Social media platforms, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram, are also being closely monitored. Officials have been instructed to promptly remove any misleading or controversial posts and take action where necessary.
