Dony Polo Public School Advance to Super Semi-Finals with Dominant Win in Sukhdeo Narain Memorial Cricket Tournament

Patna: Dony Polo Public School secured their spot in the Super Semi-Finals of the All India Sukhdeo Narain Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament after registering their second consecutive win. This victory propelled them to the semi-finals from Pool A, while Gravity High School advanced from Pool B.

The tournament, held at Jagjivan Stadium in Khagaul, saw Dony Polo Public School defeat New BD Public School by a massive 124 runs on Tuesday, 22nd October. In another match, Raj Shiksha Niketan overcame Divine Valley International School by 99 runs.

Dony Polo Public School’s Commanding Performance

Dony Polo Public School won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a total of 190 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. Piyush led the charge with a superb 63 runs off 42 balls, including 9 boundaries and 1 six, while Anmol added 47 runs from 36 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Piyush from New BD Public School was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets for 46 runs.

In response, New BD Public School’s batting line-up crumbled under the pressure of Hrithik Seth’s brilliant bowling, as he took 4 wickets. The team was bowled out for just 66 runs in 17.2 overs, with Arman Ahmed being the lone bright spot, scoring 43 runs from 45 balls. Hrithik Seth was named Player of the Match and received the award from former Sukhdeo Cricket player Amitabh Palit.

Raj Shiksha Niketan’s Victory

In the second match of the day, Raj Shiksha Niketan posted a strong total of 189 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs, led by Rahul Yadav’s 59 runs. Divine Valley International School, in reply, was bowled out for 90 runs in 19.3 overs. Rahul Yadav was named Player of the Match and was awarded the title by Danapur Railway Sports Officer Vikas Ranjan.

Tournament Progress and Super Semi-Final Matches

According to Organising Secretary Bijoy Kumar Narain Chunnu, six teams participated in the league stage, divided into two pools. Dony Polo Public School progressed from Pool A, while Gravity High School topped Pool B. Jesus and Mary School and New BD Public School finished second and third, respectively, in Pool A, while Raj Shiksha Niketan and Divine Valley International School followed in Pool B.

The Super Semi-Final stage will begin on Wednesday, 23rd October, with SDV Public School and Bihar Cambridge Public School having received direct entries.
