Patna: In a dramatic, film-style robbery, unidentified miscreants uprooted an entire ATM machine and fled with approximately ₹30 lakh in cash in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident took place around 4 a.m. in Dhibara village under the Shahpur police station area of Danapur.
According to reports, the targeted ATM belonged to the State Bank of India (SBI). Before executing the theft, the criminals cleverly sprayed paint on the CCTV cameras installed inside the ATM booth to prevent identification. They then uprooted the machine and loaded it into a four-wheeler before escaping from the scene.
Upon receiving information, Shahpur Station House Officer (SHO) Manish Kumar Anand rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh also visited the site to oversee the probe. Police officials stated that three miscreants, wearing gloves, carried out the operation.
The police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to track down the accused, and raids are being conducted in nearby areas. So far, no formal written complaint has been lodged by the bank.
The incident has triggered panic among local residents, who have demanded swift arrests and stronger security arrangements. The brazen robbery has also raised serious concerns over law and order in the region.
