CK Nayudu Trophy U23: Bihar Posts 264 as Mumbai Ends Day 1 at 90/2

Patna: The opening day of the CK Nayudu Trophy U23 match between Bihar and Mumbai at the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Kandivali, witnessed competitive cricket from both sides. Bihar set a challenging target with their first-innings score of 264 in 63.1 overs, while Mumbai reached 90 for 2 in 16 overs by stumps, needing another 174 runs to take the lead.

Bihar’s innings was anchored by a brilliant 75 from Deepak, who displayed a perfect blend of aggression and caution. Suraj Kashyap added a crucial 53, while Ankit Rai (38) and Suraj Vijay (35) contributed valuable runs in the middle order. However, the lower order failed to capitalise on the foundation, leaving Bihar unable to cross the 300-run mark.

Mumbai’s bowlers were exceptional, with Dhanit Raut and Atharva Bhosale claiming four wickets each. Suryansh and Himanshu took a wicket apiece, ensuring Bihar’s total remained within reach.

Mumbai started their innings briskly, with opener Ayush Mathre leading the charge. He scored a well-paced 52, providing stability after the early loss of Angkrish Raghuvanshi (22). Bihar’s Manish Kumar delivered a standout performance with the ball, claiming both wickets and troubling Mumbai’s top order with his pace and accuracy.

At the close of play, Mumbai’s Manan Bhat (5*) and Atharva Bhosale (7*) were at the crease.

The match remains evenly balanced, with both teams showing their strengths on Day 1. Bihar will rely on their bowlers, led by Manish Kumar, to limit Mumbai’s scoring, while the hosts aim to build a substantial lead on Day 2.
