Patna: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday asserted that Bihar would live up to the expectations of trust and development, emphasising that the state’s progress is key to India becoming a developed nation.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the 11th edition of ‘Bharose Ki Choice – Patna Edition’, organised by Zee Business at Bapu Sabhagar in Patna. The event drew an overwhelming response, with more than 15,000 registrations, which the Chief Minister described as a reflection of public confidence.
Choudhary said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country is moving steadily towards development, adding that Bihar’s prosperity is essential for India’s growth. Recalling history, he noted that Bihar had once been the centre of governance and a symbol of a “golden era” nearly 2,000 years ago.
Highlighting governance reforms, the Chief Minister stressed the need to transform systems and strengthen social structures to bring people into the mainstream of development. Despite being one of the most densely populated states, Bihar has maintained double-digit growth for the past two decades, supported by both state resources and central assistance.

He underlined major improvements in infrastructure, stating that electricity, water, and roads have reached nearly every household. Bihar, he said, is rapidly expanding its power generation capacity and will be able to meet future demand within the next two years. The state currently provides ₹23,000 crore in electricity subsidies, the highest in the country.
On urban and industrial development, Choudhary announced plans for 12 new townships across 6.25 lakh acres, with an expected investment of ₹6.5 lakh crore. These will include industrial corridors and parks, with fair compensation ensured for landowners. He also promised quicker financial assistance in urgent cases through district administrations.
The Chief Minister highlighted reforms to improve ease of doing business, including a 30-day clearance window for industries and strict accountability for officials. Applications pending beyond deadlines could lead to automatic suspension of responsible officers.

He also spoke about improvements in law and order, stating that the police respond to criminal challenges within 24 to 48 hours. Infrastructure projects such as the JP Ganga Path and new expressways were cited as examples of rapid development.
Promoting tourism, Choudhary urged greater awareness of Bihar’s rich cultural heritage, including sites like Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, and Valmiki Nagar.
He concluded by saying that with collective effort and determination, Bihar is on track to reclaim its historic glory and emerge as a leading state in the country.
