Patna: Chhattisgarh secured a resounding 183-run victory over Bihar in the Men’s U23 State A Trophy One Day match held at the Sports Hub International Cricket Stadium in Trivandrum.
Winning the toss, Chhattisgarh elected to bat and made their intentions clear from the outset, aiming to post a formidable total. They amassed a massive 358 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs, showcasing a blend of balance and aggression.
Bihar’s bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, with Prithvi Raj, Ankush, and Suman Kumar each claiming two wickets, while Aryan Raj took one. Despite their efforts, Chhattisgarh’s batsmen consistently kept the scoreboard ticking, rendering Bihar’s bowling strategy ineffective.
In pursuit of the daunting target, Bihar faltered early, losing wickets at regular intervals. Ayush Loharuka stood out with a valiant knock of 87 runs, but a lack of support from other batsmen led to a disappointing collapse. Bihar were bowled out for 175 runs in 44.4 overs.
Chhattisgarh’s bowlers dominated the game, with Varun leading the charge by taking 4 wickets. Vikalp Tiwari claimed 2 wickets, while Gaurav, Deepak, and Dev chipped in with one wicket each, ensuring Bihar’s batting line-up never gained momentum.
The emphatic win highlighted Chhattisgarh’s strength and solidified their position as strong contenders in the tournament. On the other hand, Bihar will need to reassess their strategies and deliver more consistent performances in upcoming matches to stay competitive.
