Patna: Efforts to promote industrial development and employment in Bihar have received a significant boost with the Central Government approving new projects aimed at advancing the state’s textile industry. This announcement was made by Bihar’s Industry Minister, Nitish Mishra.
On June 14, 2024, Minister Nitish Mishra had formally requested the Central Government to support the growth of the textile sector in Bihar. Responding to this request, the Union Ministry of Textiles has now approved several key projects. These include the development of the silk industry in Bhagalpur district, the Small Cluster Development Program in Tekari-Belaganj (Gaya) and Mirachak (Bhagalpur), and the organization of State Handloom Expos in Patna and Gaya.
Minister Mishra expressed optimism about the approval, stating that these initiatives will lead to increased investment in Bihar, thereby strengthening the textile industry and creating more employment opportunities.
Prior to this, Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh had communicated the approval of these projects to Minister Mishra via a letter. In his correspondence, Singh also congratulated Mishra on the successful Investor Meet held at the Taj Hotel in Patna on July 17-18, 2024. Singh expressed confidence that, under Mishra’s leadership, Bihar’s textile industry would reach new heights. The Investor Meet had seen participation from representatives of many prominent companies in the country’s textile sector.
