BPSC 70th Combined Competitive Examination 2024: Candidates Face Issues Due to Lack of Edit Option in Application Form

Patna: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has recently issued the official notification for the 70th Combined Competitive Examination 2024 on its website https://onlinebpsc.bihar.gov.in/main/home. The application process commenced on September 28, with the final date for submission being October 18. However, many candidates are facing difficulties due to the absence of an option to edit their application forms.

Married candidates, in particular, are struggling as they are unable to update their marital status in the form. Student leader Dilip, President of the Bihar Student Union, pointed out that candidates who applied last year may have registered as unmarried, but are now married. The inability to edit the form to reflect this change is causing issues. Additionally, candidates who applied in the general category last year but have since received their caste certificates are unable to modify their category in this year’s application.

Dilip further highlighted that this is the largest vacancy released by the BPSC to date, yet the lack of an edit option is complicating the process for many applicants. He stressed that while certain details, such as parental names, educational qualifications, and birth certificates, cannot be changed after submission, errors in personal details, including gender, are causing unnecessary problems for candidates. Dilip is calling on the BPSC to introduce an edit option to ensure no eligible candidate is left out of the examination process.

BPSC has introduced a system where candidates must fill out their details on the commission’s website and will be assigned a unique registration code. For future vacancies, applicants will only need to submit this code and approve the form for automatic submission. However, this process is adding to the challenges faced by candidates.

The 70th Combined Competitive Examination 2024 is BPSC’s largest recruitment drive, with 1,957 posts available across various departments in Bihar. Of these, 678 vacancies fall under the Group A level 9 pay scale, 1,251 vacancies under the Group B level 7 pay scale, and 28 vacancies under the Group B level 6 pay scale. Key positions include 200 posts for Sub-Divisional Officers/Senior Deputy Collectors in the Bihar Administrative Service, 136 posts for Deputy Superintendents of Police in the Bihar Police Service cadre, and 168 posts for the Bihar Finance Service, among others.
