Patna: A major fire broke out in a cosmetics shop on Vijay Singh Yadav Path under the Danapur police station area on Friday morning, reportedly due to a short circuit. Property worth nearly ₹10 lakh was reduced to ashes in the incident. No casualties have been reported.
According to officials, five fire tenders rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after strenuous efforts. Firefighters also succeeded in preventing the flames from spreading to adjacent grocery and jewellery shops.
Eyewitnesses said smoke was first noticed billowing from the shop around 7 a.m., following which the fire quickly intensified and threatened nearby establishments. Acting swiftly, locals alerted the fire brigade, which responded promptly.
Shop owner Amit Kumar stated that he received information early in the morning about smoke emanating from his shop. “By the time I reached, the flames had intensified,” he said, adding that the fire department was immediately informed.
Assistant Fire Officer Vijay Shankar Yadav confirmed that the fire, which originated at a shop near Tribhuvan Mor, was caused by a short circuit. “A total of five fire engines, both small and large, were deployed to control the blaze after considerable effort. Nearby shops were successfully protected,” he said.
The incident also led to the loss of around ₹10,000 in cash, along with goods and property worth nearly ₹10 lakh.
