Patna, June 20: Bihar’s Avinash Roy and Bhargavi Sharma advanced to the finals in the boys’ and girls’ sections, respectively, at the All India Ranking Under-16 Tennis Championship held at the Nasseb Sports Academy courts on Thursday.
In the boys’ semifinals, Avinash Roy triumphed over Uttar Pradesh’s Arjun Sharma with a score of 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-3. Roy will now face Amrit Vats of West Bengal in the final. Vats secured his spot by defeating Satyam Prakash of Bihar 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.
In the girls’ singles semifinals, Bhargavi Sharma outplayed her fellow Bihari, Aditi Mishra, winning 6-3, 6-4. Sharma is set to compete against Anika Pandey of Karnataka in the final.
