Patna: Bihar women’s Under-15 team suffered a heavy nine-wicket defeat against Tamil Nadu in their Women’s Under-15 One-Day Trophy (Elite) match, played on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the St Xavier’s KCA Cricket Ground in Thiruvananthapuram.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bihar were bowled out for a modest 76 for 9 in 35 overs. Tejaswani top-scored with 38 runs off 76 balls, including five boundaries. Sanskruti remained unbeaten on 6, while Anu Singh Kushwaha contributed 8 runs off 8 deliveries. Bihar lost wickets at regular intervals, which severely hampered the scoring rate.
Tamil Nadu’s bowlers produced a disciplined performance, led by Asarankha S, who claimed an impressive five-wicket haul, conceding just 5 runs in her six overs. Hansika, Rithika, Yohita and Shreya picked up one wicket each, while the rest of the bowling unit maintained tight lines and lengths to keep constant pressure on the Bihar batters.
In reply, Tamil Nadu chased down the target comfortably, scoring 78 for 1 in just 14.2 overs. Yohita played a fluent unbeaten knock of 37 off 42 balls, while captain Hansika P scored 21 from 38 deliveries. The pair shared a 70-run partnership to guide their side to an emphatic victory.
For Bihar, Vaishnavi Singh claimed the lone wicket, with the rest of the bowlers unable to make further breakthroughs.
The match once again highlighted Bihar’s lack of batting partnerships and coordination. The team will look to address these shortcomings and return with an improved performance in their upcoming fixtures.
