Patna: Work on four significant road projects in Bihar is set to commence soon, following the clearance given by the Road Construction Department. Administrative approval has been granted for the construction of these roads, which will be developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 2000 crore. Land acquisition will begin shortly, to be followed by the tendering process. The target for completing these roads is within four years.
According to reports, approval has been received for the construction of four state highways under the Bihar State Highway programme. The approved projects include the Chapra-Manjhi-Daraul-Ghuthni road, the Banganga-Jethian-Gahlor-Bhinds road, the Dhoraiya-English Mor-Asarganj road, and the Ara-Ekouna-Khaira-Sahar road. The department has given the green light for these highways to be built.
It has been confirmed that the government will finance these projects with assistance from the Asian Development Bank. Over Rs 701 crore will be allocated for the 72 km Chapra-Manjhi-Daraul-Ghuthni road, which will feature bridges, culverts, bypasses, and railway underpasses. The 41 km Banganga-Jethian-Gahlor-Bhinds road will cost approximately Rs 361 crore.
Meanwhile, the 58 km Dhoraiya-English Mor-Asarganj road will include bridges, culverts, bypasses, and Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and will be constructed at a cost exceeding Rs 650 crore. The Ara-Ekouna-Khaira-Sahar road, which will span 32 km, will be built with a budget of over Rs 373 crore.
These highways will be developed by the Bihar State Road Development Corporation (Bihar State Path Vikas Nigam). The company awarded the contract for the road construction will also be responsible for maintenance for a specified period. Prior to commencing the construction of bridges and culverts, aquatic data will be collected, and necessary permissions will be sought from the Water Resources Department.
