Patna: Bihar will soon have six new pontoon bridges constructed in the districts of Samastipur, Vaishali, Madhepura, Buxar, Bhojpur, and Patna. This announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister and Road Construction Minister Vijay Sinha. The construction of these bridges has been approved to enhance traffic flow across the state. Administrative approval has also been granted for their installation, maintenance, dismantling, and reinstallation over the next five years.
Pontoon bridges play a crucial role in ensuring smooth transportation in Bihar’s flood-prone regions. These temporary bridges are dismantled when river water levels rise and reinstalled once the water recedes. Deputy CM Sinha highlighted that these bridges will become operational for public use immediately after the monsoon season, enabling easier travel in affected areas.
With the construction of these bridges, the time required to reach Patna from any district in Bihar will be reduced to just five hours, significantly improving accessibility and connectivity.
Deputy CM Sinha has instructed the Managing Director of the Bridge Construction Corporation to ensure the highest quality standards and timely completion of these projects. He has also mandated strict monitoring during the construction phase to avoid any delays or lapses.
Sinha emphasised that, since 2005, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar has witnessed continuous development in the construction of roads and bridges, which has greatly contributed to the state’s infrastructure growth.
These new pontoon bridges mark another step towards strengthening Bihar’s transport network and improving connectivity for its citizens.
