Bihar Government Enhances VIP Security for Ministers and MPs

Patna: The Bihar State Security Committee has made significant decisions regarding VIP security in a recent meeting. Leshi Singh, the Bihar Government’s Minister of Food and Consumer Protection, has been granted Z category security. Meanwhile, Devesh Chandra Thakur and Vivek Thakur, who recently secured victories in the Lok Sabha elections, have been provided Y category security. A formal letter detailing these changes has been issued by Bihar Government’s Special Secretary, K. Suhita Anupam, to the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) and the Additional Director General’s (ADG) Special Branch.

The State Security Committee meeting, held on August 16, reviewed the security arrangements for VIPs. Following the recommendations made during this meeting, the security measures for JDU Minister Leshi Singh, JDU MP Devesh Chandra Thakur, and BJP MP Vivek Thakur have been upgraded. Leshi Singh has now been assigned Z category security, while Devesh Chandra Thakur and Vivek Thakur will receive Y category security.

Additionally, several Union Ministers from Bihar, along with more than a dozen leaders from BJP, JDU, and other parties, have also been granted VIP security. Notable figures already under VIP security in Bihar include Shahnawaz Hussain, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Janardan Singh Sigriwal, both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Bihar Minister Ashok Chaudhary, among others.

Z category security consists of 22 personnel, including 4 to 6 commandos, while Y category security involves 8 personnel, including 1 to 2 commandos. Following the decisions made in the State Security Committee meeting, an official notification has been issued to implement these enhanced security measures.
