Patna: The Bihar government is promoting entrepreneurship and employment through fisheries. Under the initiative of the Directorate of Fisheries, Department of Animal and Fishery Resources, large-scale distribution of free fishing and marketing kits is being carried out for the fishermen of the state. Additionally, fish vendors are being provided with three-wheeler vehicles equipped with ice boxes at subsidised rates for the transportation of fish.
Under this scheme, selected fishermen, fish vendors, and beneficiaries are receiving 100% subsidised fishing and marketing kits. Those engaged in retail fish sales are being provided with three-wheeler vehicles at a 50% subsidy on the predetermined cost.
Moreover, members of Fishermen Cooperative Societies, and individuals from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, livelihood groups (Jeevika), and FPOs involved in fish selling are eligible to apply. Applicants must include their mobile number, bank account name, bank account number, and IFSC code in the application form.
