Patna: In the ongoing Ranji Trophy match at IS Bindra Stadium in Chandigarh, Bihar were bowled out for 135 runs in their first innings against Punjab. Ayush Loharuka led Bihar scorecard with a resilient 63 runs, the highest contribution from his team.
Punjab won the toss and opted to field first, a decision that paid off as Bihar’s top order struggled, with the first five wickets tumbling for just 43 runs. However, a 39-run partnership for the sixth wicket and a 42-run stand for the seventh wicket helped Bihar surpass the hundred-run mark.
In Bihar’s innings, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 13 runs, Piyush added 6, Babul contributed 8, Sakibul managed 3, and Bipin Saurabh was dismissed for a duck. Other scorers included Sarman Nigrodh with 9 runs, Veer Pratap with 18, Himanshu Singh with 6, and Sabbir Khan with a single run.
Punjab’s bowling attack was led by Sukhdeep Bajwa, who claimed three wickets, while Baltej, Naman Dheer, and Mayank Markandey took two wickets each, and Gurnoor Brar chipped in with one.
Weather delays affected the match, with play beginning over an hour late and ending an hour early due to poor light. Only 56.2 overs were completed on the first day.
