Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Pays Tribute to Late Mother Parmeshwari Devi on 14th Death Anniversary in Kalyan Bigha

By Neeraj Kumar

Patna: Today marks the 14th death anniversary of Parmeshwari Devi, the late mother of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. A commemorative programme was held in his ancestral village of Kalyan Bigha in Nalanda, where the Chief Minister paid homage to his mother.

The newly appointed Governor of Bihar, Arif Mohammad Khan, also visited Kalyan Bigha for the first time since taking office. He paid his respects at the statue of Late Ram Lakhan Singh Vaidya, located in Smriti Vatika, and engaged in discussions with the Chief Minister.

In addition to the Governor, several Bihar government ministers, along with JD(U) MPs and MLAs, attended the memorial event. Strict security arrangements were implemented in the area to ensure a smooth visit for both the Governor and the Chief Minister. District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar, Superintendent of Police Bharat Soni, and other senior administrative officers were present to oversee the arrangements.

Following the tributes, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar returned to Patna.

It is worth recalling that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s mother, Parmeshwari Devi, passed away on 1 January 2011 at the age of 92 after a prolonged illness. Her death coincided with New Year’s Day celebrations and occurred at the Chief Minister’s official residence. Nitish Kumar’s father, Ram Lakhan Singh, had passed away many years earlier.

Each year on 1 January, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visits his native village, Kalyan Bigha, in Nalanda to pay homage to his late mother. Continuing this tradition, he arrived early in the morning to offer his respects and later returned to Patna.
