Patna, July 10: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has delivered a significant gift to the people of Patna by inaugurating the third phase of Marine Drive, also known as Ganga Path. The ceremony was attended by Bihar Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad. With the inauguration, vehicle movement has commenced on this route, making travel from Danapur to Patna City much easier.
CM Nitish Kumar is committed to completing all development schemes before the upcoming elections. He has been urging officials to ensure timely completion of projects, emphasizing the need to meet deadlines to avoid public scrutiny. Demonstrating his determination, CM Kumar even made a heartfelt appeal to the construction agency’s engineer, offering to touch their feet if necessary to expedite the work. However, the departmental secretary, Pratyaya Amrit, intervened to stop the Chief Minister’s gesture.
The Marine Drive in Patna is modeled after Mumbai’s Marine Drive. In 2022, CM Kumar inaugurated the first phase from Digha to PMCH. The second phase extended the path from PMCH to Gaighat in 2023. Now, the construction from Gaighat to Kangan Ghat has been completed.
The Ganga Path along the river’s banks now spans 17 km from Digha to Kangan Ghat, with 12.5 km operational from Digha to Gaighat. This new development allows for quick and easy travel for people coming from Sonepur and Hajipur to reach Patna City via Digha.
