 Chilli Egg Recipe: An Indo- Chinese Appetiser

Chilli Egg is an Indo- Chinese appetiser which is one of a kind and a really fan favourite of most of the households and has a special name in the hall of fame of different cuisines.


  1. 3- 4 eggs (Hard Boiled)
  2. 2 medium sized onions chopped julian
  3. 3 medium sized capsicum chopped julian
  4. 2 finely chopped chillies
  5. Finely chopped garlic cloves (3-4)
  6. Finely chopped garlic
  7. ½ tbsp chilli powder
  8. ½ tbsp coriander powder
  9. ½ tbsp soy sauce
  10. 1 cup tomato sauce
  11. 1 tbsp red chilli sauce
  12. 1 tbsp green chilli sauce
  13. ½ tbsp vinegar
  14. 1 cup cornflour mixed water
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Sugar to taste
  17. 5 tbsp oil
  18. Finely chopped coriander leaves for garnish


  1. For the recipe use a wok and add the oil. Wait till the oil is hot enough to add the ingredients
  2. Once the oil is hot add the chopped garlic and ginger along with the chillies.
  3. Wait till the garlic and ginger till golden brown and then add the finely chopped onion
  4. Fry the onion till they turn golden brown, add sallt according to taste .
  5. Once the onions are fried, add the capsicum and mix well with the onions and continue frying them at least for another 4 to 5 minutes on medium heat.
  6. Once the capsicum has softened add the chilli powder and coriander powder and stir well
  7. Add the soy sauce, stir well.
  8. Then add the tomato sauce, green chilli and red chilli sauce and stir well on low flame for 2 minutes.
  9. Add the cup of water mixed cornflour and cook on low flame for 3 minutes with lid on
  10. In another frying pan fry the eggs (The eggs should be well coated in cornflour before frying)
  11. Once the eggs are fried and ready, add the same in the gravy mix
  12. Serve chilli egg with some freshly cut coriander leaves as garnish
