Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary reviewed the functioning of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) at the Sankalp auditorium of the Lok Sevak Awas on Saturday, stressing the need to promote ease of doing business in the real estate sector while ensuring stronger protection for homebuyers’ interests.
During the meeting, RERA Chairman Vivek Kumar Singh gave a detailed presentation on the authority’s institutional framework and operational system. He said RERA’s procedures had been made simple and transparent, adding that its institutional structure was among the best in the country.
The Chief Minister directed officials to make RERA’s processes more streamlined, transparent, accountable and technology-driven. He emphasised the need to eliminate unnecessary delays in real estate project approvals while ensuring that promoters and developers could carry out their work smoothly in accordance with the rules.
He also instructed officials to integrate RERA’s functioning with the state government’s dashboard and digital platforms, enabling effective monitoring of pending cases, their disposal and other key activities.
Samrat Choudhary said the most important aspect of reforms in the real estate sector was safeguarding the rights and interests of homebuyers. He directed officials to ensure that complaints and disputes involving homebuyers were handled with sensitivity, transparency and within stipulated timelines.
The Chief Minister said a transparent and accountable regulatory framework would strengthen the confidence of homebuyers and create a more favourable environment for investment and business in the real estate sector.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, RERA Chairman Vivek Kumar Singh, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department Vinay Kumar, Secretaries to the Chief Minister Lokesh Kumar Singh and Sanjay Kumar Singh, along with other senior RERA officials.
