Bihar BJP Aims for One Crore Members Ahead of 2025 Assembly Elections

By Neeraj Kumar

Patna: The Bihar BJP has launched an extensive membership campaign as part of its efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections. The campaign is being heavily promoted, with the party setting ambitious targets for membership growth compared to the previous drive. From senior leaders to grassroots workers, everyone is striving to meet the heightened goals.

Party leaders are confident that the BJP will become the largest political force in Bihar. Currently, the party claims to have 8 million members, with the high command aiming to increase that number to 10 million. Health Minister Mangal Pandey stated that they are well on their way to achieving the target, noting that the BJP already has the largest membership base in the state. He also mentioned that he had personally met his membership goals.

The membership drive involves every level of the party, from MLAs, MPs, ministers, MLCs, and state officials, all of whom have been assigned specific targets. Active BJP workers have been tasked with recruiting 200 new members, a requirement for them to maintain their status as active members. The drive is also highly competitive, as leaders work to be included in the list of active workers.

In addition to general party efforts, specific individual responsibilities have been assigned. State officials must recruit 500 new members, while MLAs have been tasked with adding 2,000 members each. BJP MPs, who have the largest targets, must recruit 5,000 new members. As part of the effort, once someone has registered via mobile phone, they cannot be added again.

Membership Campaign Incharge Jivesh Mishra expressed confidence in achieving the target, saying, “We are progressing smoothly. The campaign has gained momentum, and everyone is working hard to meet their goals. Personally, I have recruited more than 500 members.”

So far, the Bihar BJP has successfully added 1.1 million new members. Leaders across the party are using mobile phones and specific codes to register new members, creating a sense of competition. Those who achieve their targets receive congratulatory messages from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Arvind Singh, the BJP’s headquarters in-charge, asserted that the party is on track to become the largest in Bihar, with many leaders, including Kamaljit Singh, nearing their membership goals. Kamaljit Singh, a state officer, has already added 350 members out of his 500-member target.

As the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections approach, with the NDA aiming to win over 200 seats, the BJP is looking to expand its membership base and further strengthen the party. The current membership campaign reflects the party’s determination to grow its presence across the state.
