Vigilance Nabs Two Employees of SDO Office for Taking Bribe in Bhagalpur

Bhagalpur: Two employees in office of Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar) in Bhagalpur were nabbed taking bribe today by a vigilance team from Patna. As per information a clerk and a stenographer in SDO office were caught taking bribe of Rs 70000 from one Abhijeet Kumar, an employee of supply office in Nathnagar block, in lieu of service confirmation.
The clerk and stenographer arrested by vigilance team have been respectively identified as Mayank Kumar and Prem Kumar. The Nathnagar supply office employee, it is stated had lodged a complaint in vigilance office that said employees have been demanding bribe from him for service confirmation and since he has not met their demand his work has been deliberately kept pending.
Taking note of complaint of Abhijeet Kumar, enquiry was initiated by vigilance department. The charges made by Kumar found true in enquiry, a team from Patna was sent here today to nab the concerned employees, red handed.
The members of vigilance team present in SDO office in plain dress had earlier asked the complainant to meet the concerned employees in the office with bribe money.
As per information as complainant went to the stenographer to hand him bribe money, he asked him to give it to the clerk through gesture of eyes. The clerk of SDO office was nabbed by vigilance team members as soon as complainant gave him bribe money.
The stenographer was also subsequently arrested by vigilance team members. Both arrested SDO office employees were taken to Patna by vigilance team for production in vigilance court.
Vidayanand Prasad, DSP, vigilance, has been quoted in media reports confirming the charges of bribe demand for service confirmation made against arrested employees by complainant were found true in enquiry made earlier.
