Patna: The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) has expressed its delight and extended heartfelt congratulations to young cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on his selection to the Indian T20 team.
Suryavanshi has been included in the national squad for the upcoming tours of England and Ireland, as well as for the 2026 Asian Games to be held in Japan.
Welcoming his selection, BCA president Harshavardhan described it as a historic achievement for cricket in Bihar. He said the success was not only a result of Suryavanshi’s individual talent and dedication, but also a reflection of the steady growth of cricket in the state and the emergence of promising players.
“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s selection is a landmark moment for Bihar cricket,” he said. “It represents not just the success of one player, but the continuous development of the sport in the state, the hard work of players, and the exceptional talent emerging from Bihar. Vaibhav has proved through his performances that cricketers from Bihar have the ability to succeed at the highest level. I am confident he will make a valuable contribution to the Indian team and bring pride to both the nation and the state.”
This selection marks Sooryavanshi’s first opportunity to represent India and he is set to make his debut in international T20 cricket.
On the occasion, BCA Secretary Ziaul Arfeen said the achievement would serve as an inspiration for millions of young cricketers in Bihar. He highlighted that Suryavanshi reached this milestone through talent, discipline and consistent hard work.
“His performance in the IPL was remarkable, and his selection to the Indian team marks an important chapter in his cricketing journey,” Arfeen said. “We believe he will make significant contributions to the national side and establish himself among the country’s leading cricketers in the coming years.”
Sooryavanshi, who has risen from Bihar to make a mark at national and international levels, drew widespread attention during IPL 2026. Representing Rajasthan Royals, he displayed aggressive batting throughout the tournament and finished as the highest run-scorer, claiming the Orange Cap.
He also set a new record by hitting 72 sixes in a single IPL season. His fearless approach, impressive strike rate and ability to consistently play big shots made him one of the most exciting young talents in Indian cricket.
The Bihar Cricket Association has extended its congratulations to Sooryavanshi and his family on this historic achievement and wished him a successful international career.
