Patna: Bapu Tower, located in Gardanibagh, Patna, is nearing completion, and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently reviewed its progress. The Secretary of the Building Construction Department, Kumar Ravi, announced that CM Nitish Kumar will officially inaugurate the tower on 2nd October. Visitors will have the opportunity to sit in the orientation hall and explore the life, ideals, and works of Mahatma Gandhi, along with the rich history of Bihar.

Once inaugurated, the tower will offer a comprehensive insight into Gandhi’s life, thoughts, and ideals, with a focus on his role in India’s freedom struggle and his connection to Bihar. The display will showcase key historical events from Gandhi’s life, his philosophy, and his impact on society, allowing the public to engage with his legacy.

The surrounding complex has been designed to be green and organised, creating a pleasant environment for visitors. CM Nitish Kumar has visited the site multiple times, offering suggestions and ensuring that the roads around Bapu Tower are widened to facilitate easy access for visitors. Additionally, he has instructed the planting of trees along the roadside.

Bapu Tower was first conceived during the Champaran Satyagraha Centenary Celebration, held from 10th April 2017 to 20th April 2018. During a national discussion event in April 2017, CM Nitish Kumar announced the creation of this museum to promote the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi. The foundation stone was laid on 2nd October 2018, in honour of Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, on seven acres of land in Gardanibagh.

Bapu Tower comprises two main structures: a rectangular building and a conical tower. The G+6 rectangular building includes three exhibition galleries, an auditorium, a temporary exhibition space, offices, a waiting room, a museum shop, and a refreshment area. The conical tower, standing 102 feet high, features five continuous ramps displaying Gandhi’s life and philosophy through murals, cutouts, and screen projections.
