Jamui, June 4: In a commanding display, Banka defeated Lakhisarai by 136 runs in the Shyamal Sinha Inter District Under-16 Cricket Tournament Angika Zone, marking Banka’s second consecutive win. The match took place at the local Sri Krishna Stadium.

Banka, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, posted a formidable total of 224 runs in 37 overs. Key contributions came from Vinit Chaudhary, who scored a brisk 53 runs off 29 balls, featuring 7 fours and 3 sixes, and Sujal Verma, who notched up 60 runs off 70 balls, with 11 fours and 1 six. Other notable performances included Chhotu Kumar with 35 runs off 60 balls and Satyam Kumar Ojha with 26 runs off 17 balls. Extras contributed 22 runs to the total.

For Lakhisarai, Karan Yadav and Sambhav Kumar were the pick of the bowlers, each claiming three wickets. Prithvi Raj Pandey took two wickets, while Bhaskar Anand chipped in with one.

In response, Lakhisarai was bundled out for 88 runs in 28 overs. Rishabh Singh Rana scored 23 runs and Abir Arora added 16 runs. Extras accounted for 17 runs. Sagar Saxena led the bowling attack for Banka with an impressive four-wicket haul. Gaurav Arun Kumar and Abhijeet Singh took two wickets each, while Prince and Rishabh Thakur secured one wicket apiece.

Sagar Saxena’s excellent bowling performance earned him the Man of the Match award, presented by former state player Sandeep Rawat.
