Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has taken a significant political decision, formally announcing Tejashwi Yadav as the party’s Working President. The move is being viewed as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the organisation and sharpen preparations for the forthcoming elections.
With Tejashwi Yadav’s elevation, the party has clearly signalled that youth leadership will play a more decisive role in its future politics. Already one of the RJD’s most prominent faces, his influence within the organisation is expected to grow further with this new responsibility.
Senior party leaders said the decision was taken with the aim of reinforcing the RJD at the grassroots level. As Working President, Tejashwi Yadav will oversee organisational affairs, political strategy and election preparedness. The move is expected to inject fresh energy and enthusiasm among party workers.
A day earlier, RJD spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan had indicated that Tejashwi Yadav could be appointed Working President if a proposal was placed before the executive committee. It may be recalled that party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav had already entrusted him with key responsibilities ahead of the Assembly elections.

Political observers believe the decision could have a direct impact on the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha polls. Given Tejashwi Yadav’s active and aggressive political approach, rival parties may face increased challenges, with the RJD now appearing to be in a distinctly assertive mode.
The decision has been welcomed by senior leaders and party workers alike. They expressed confidence that under Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership, the RJD would move in a new direction and raise public issues more forcefully.
Overall, the appointment is being seen as a clear indication of the RJD’s future political course. Attention will now be on how Tejashwi Yadav utilises this responsibility to reorganise the party and what impact it has on electoral outcomes.
