Patna: Bihar produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Mizoram by five wickets in a List-A match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (Plate Group) at the Usha Martin Ground in Ranchi.
Chasing a target of 259, Bihar reached 262 for five in just 34.1 overs to seal a comfortable victory.
Earlier, Mizoram were bowled out for 258 in 45.4 overs. Captain Thankhuma top-scored with 61, while Karthik C A provided late impetus with a blistering 73 off 29 balls. Jehu Anderson contributed 34 and Shahil added 26.
Bihar’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Honey Kumar Singh returning figures of 3 for 31 from seven overs, including two maidens. Himanshu Singh claimed 3 for 45 in his 10 overs, while Suraj Kashyap struck at crucial moments to take 3 for 22 in 3.4 overs. Shakibul Gani picked up one wicket.
In reply, Bihar got off to a flying start as Ayush Loharuka smashed 40 off just 13 balls to set the tone. Bipin Saurabh then played a dominant yet composed knock of 95 from 59 deliveries, putting Bihar firmly in control. Kumar Rajnish remained unbeaten on 71 to guide the team home, while skipper S Gani chipped in with 26 to steady the middle order.
For Mizoram, Merama took 3 for 60 from 10 overs, while Nunfela claimed 2 for 45 in six overs. The remaining bowlers went wicketless.
