Major Police Action in Patna
In a major crackdown, Patna Police arrested six accused and seized cash worth ₹12.16 lakh, weapons and a large consignment of narcotics. During the search, 545 grams of smack and 558 grams of charas were recovered. The police also seized one country-made firearm, three live cartridges, one pistol magazine, 21.5 litres of foreign liquor, ₹12.16 lakh in cash, three ATM cards, one electronic weighing machine, 413 grams of silver-like biscuits and 24.7 grams of gold ornaments.
Charas and Smack Trafficking Under the Guise of a Tea Stall
Police sources said that on December 24, 2025, Maner police received confidential information about illegal purchase and sale of narcotics and preparations for a major deal being carried out under the guise of a tea shop in the Maner police station area. Considering the seriousness of the input, a special team was constituted under the guidance of the City Superintendent of Police (West) and led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer.

The special team conducted a raid at the identified location and carried out an intensive search of the shops and the adjoining residential premises. During the operation, a huge quantity of smack, charas, weapons and cash was recovered. Silver biscuits and gold jewellery were also seized. The police confiscated one four-wheeler and one motorcycle allegedly used in the drug trade.
Six Accused Held
During the raid, two accused — identified as Piyush Kumar and Shubham Kumar — were arrested from the spot. Based on their interrogation and leads provided by them, four more accused involved in the drug trafficking racket were subsequently arrested, taking the total number of arrests to six. Police are gathering information about their network spread across India and abroad.
One Accused from Saran, Others from Maner
The arrested accused include Abhishek Kumar, Saroj Kumar, Soni Gupta and another Abhishek Kumar. Most of them are residents of the Maner police station area, while one accused, Abhishek Kumar, is a resident of Mahaji Chakia under the Dorigunj police station area in Saran district.
Police Probe into Wider Network
Interrogation has revealed that the gang had been involved in drug trafficking for a long time and that its network extended at both international and inter-state levels. Police are now working to trace all links of the racket and further legal action is under way.
The operation, carried out on the basis of confidential information, led first to the arrest of two accused, followed by the apprehension of four others on their disclosure. Patna Police said the anti-narcotics drive will continue with similar actions in the future, SSP Kartikeya K Sharma said.
