Gopalganj: The Asmita Khelo India Women’s Kho-Kho League (Under-14 and Under-18) is set to commence at Minj Stadium, Gopalganj, with grand prizes awaiting participants. Organised jointly by the Bihar State Sports Authority and the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, the league is hosted by the District Administration, Gopalganj.
According to Neeraj Kumar Pappu, Secretary of the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, the event is being held in collaboration with the Union Sports Ministry, the Sports Authority of India, and the Kho-Kho Federation of India. The winning team in each category will receive Rs 2.75 lakh, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 1.75 lakh. Teams finishing in third place will receive Rs 75,000 each. In addition to these cash prizes, glittering trophies and individual awards will also be presented.
Gopalganj District Sports Officer Abdul Rashid reported that preparations are in full swing to ensure the event’s success. Three courts are being constructed at Minj Stadium specifically for the league. Arrangements for players’ accommodation and meals have been meticulously planned to provide maximum comfort.
District Magistrate of Gopalganj, Prashant Kumar CH (IAS), recently reviewed the preparations and directed officials to ensure flawless execution. He emphasised the importance of player hospitality, technical arrangements, and security. The review meeting was attended by Deputy Development Commissioner Kumar Nishant Vivek and other senior officials of the district.
Teams have already started arriving in Gopalganj, with Karnataka and the host team from Bihar among the first to reach the venue. The stage is set for an exciting showcase of talent and sportsmanship.
