Big Brands Eye Bihar as Business Environment Transforms

Patna: The industrial landscape of Bihar is undergoing a significant transformation. Alongside small and medium enterprises, major industry players are now expressing keen interest in investing in the state. The government is actively encouraging this trend, taking robust measures to promote investment.

The second Bihar Business Connect Summit, scheduled for 19–20 December 2024, will be held in the state capital, Patna. The two-day event will feature participation from investors representing 80 countries, as well as prominent Union Ministers, officials from various ministries, and industry leaders.

State Prepares for Big Investments

The Chief Secretary of Bihar recently convened a review meeting to discuss preparations for the summit. Departments have been directed to work in close coordination to ensure the success of Bihar Business Connect 2024. Last year’s summit resulted in investment agreements worth ₹50,000 crore, involving companies from around the globe.

This year, the event is expected to attract significant investment in emerging sectors such as textiles, food processing, and electric vehicles (EVs). These investments are anticipated to boost Bihar’s economic development and create substantial employment opportunities.

Aiming for Record Participation

Registration for the summit is already underway through an official website. A state government representative revealed that 3,000 participants registered for last year’s event, and this year the target has been increased to 5,000 attendees. Invitations have been extended to representatives from 82 countries, as well as officials from various industry organisations across India.

To draw investors, Bihar’s Industry and Tourism Minister, Nitish Mishra, has conducted roadshows in several cities.

A Proven Track Record

The Bihar government has been organising nationwide conferences to showcase the state’s potential. The campaign began in Kolkata in July and included the Bihar Leather Investor Conference held in Kanpur earlier this month, which attracted policymakers and industry experts.

The inaugural Bihar Business Connect, held in December 2023, witnessed overwhelming participation from investors. 278 companies signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹50,000 crore, highlighting Bihar’s growing appeal as an investment destination.

As preparations for Bihar Business Connect 2024 gather pace, the state stands poised for another leap forward in its industrial journey.
