Patna: Bihar suffered a nine-wicket loss to Hyderabad in their opening match of the Women’s Under-15 One Day Trophy, organised by the BCCI. The Group A encounter, held at the KSCA Navule Stadium in Shimoga, Karnataka, saw Bihar struggle with the bat, managing just 88 runs in 34.3 overs. Hyderabad chased the target with ease, reaching 90 for one in just 10.3 overs.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Bihar’s captain Pratibha Sahni top-scored with 21 runs. Priya Raj contributed 12, and Anushka added 10, but the rest of the batting line-up faltered. Six Bihar players were run out, highlighting a lack of coordination in their running between the wickets. Hyderabad’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Sanjana, Ashrita, Shaik Aisha, and Vemula Jenishka taking one wicket each.
In reply, Hyderabad cruised to victory, with Vemula Jenishka anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 34 and Arshitha scoring 28 not out. Bihar’s Vaishnavi Singh dismissed Geetika Priyadarshini for six runs, but it was the lone breakthrough for the team.
Bihar will look to bounce back in their next match against Nagaland on 23rd November.
