Patna: A major fire erupted unexpectedly at the Patrakar Nagar police station in Patna, Bihar, quickly escalating in intensity. Fortunately, fire brigade vehicles and personnel arrived promptly, bringing the blaze under control. Local shopkeepers also assisted in extinguishing the flames, and trapped police personnel were safely rescued using a hydraulic vehicle.
Reports indicate that numerous documents, along with food supplies, were destroyed in the fire. Senior officials from both the fire brigade and police department rushed to the scene, although the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Over half a dozen fire brigade vehicles were deployed to contain the incident.
One police officer trapped inside recounted that the fire broke out while they were cooking, and they noticed smoke rising from the lower floors. Within moments, flames surged rapidly. Initial accounts suggest the blaze may have been caused by a short circuit. Over 10 people were trapped at the site but were all successfully evacuated.
Nearby shopkeepers reported seeing flames suddenly appear from the police station. Local residents initially attempted to douse the flames before the fire brigade was alerted. Several police personnel, who reside at the station with their families, were evacuated with the assistance of the community. After sustained efforts, the fire was brought under control without any reported injuries.
SDPO Abhinav confirmed that the fire, suspected to be due to a short circuit, has been fully contained. While there were no casualties, essential items and food supplies were reduced to ashes. The SDPO assured that a thorough investigation into the incident would be conducted.
