Patna: Movement between Digha, Gaighat, and Krishna Ghat is set to become easier as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inaugurated the Krishna Ghat connectivity and the up-ramp at Gaighat on Patna’s JP Ganga Path. The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, as well as Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.
The JP Ganga Path, also known as Ganga Marine Drive, is a key project spearheaded by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Spanning 20.5 km, the path is being constructed along the banks of the Ganga, connecting Digha to Didarganj. So far, 17 km of the path, from Digha to Kangan Ghat, has been completed, and the remainder is expected to be finished by early next year. There are also plans to extend the path to Koilwar, with the Chief Minister having directed officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR).
The JP Ganga Path will ultimately span 90 km. Chief Minister Kumar has also suggested extending the route to Mokama, which would benefit not only the residents of Patna but also those living across the Ganga in adjacent areas.
In July, during the inauguration of the JP Ganga Path section up to Kangan Ghat, Chief Minister Kumar expressed his frustration with the delays in the construction work. He famously asked the officials whether he should beg them to ensure the project is completed on time, a remark that garnered widespread attention.
