Patna: Cameras installed across Patna to monitor traffic have led to a shocking discovery after a Scorpio was fined for overspeeding on Saturday. The fine was linked to a number plate belonging to a different vehicle, a white Dzire car. This has raised concerns that the Scorpio was being driven with a false number plate.
The incident came to light when Manish Kumar, the owner of the Dzire, received a fine notification on his mobile phone, despite his car being parked at home in Punpun all day. Confused by the situation, Manish visited the traffic police, who confirmed that the fine was issued for a Scorpio using his car’s registration number. It is suspected that the Scorpio was using a fake number plate.
Manish was instructed by the traffic police to file a report at the local police station. The incident has sparked widespread discussion, as authorities now face the task of investigating how two vehicles are operating with the same number plate on the roads.
Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to track down the offending Scorpio, and there are concerns that it may have been used for illegal activities.
“I own a white Dzire. Someone else has been using my number plate, and I have no idea for how long or what they’ve done. I only found out when I received a fine for overspeeding. I’ve reported the issue to the traffic police,” said car owner Manish Kumar.
