Patna Emerges Overall Winner at Bihar State Inter-District School Girls Athletics Championship

Patna: Patna claimed the title of overall winner at the Bihar State Inter-District School Girls Athletics Championship, securing a total of 86 points, with an impressive tally of 9 gold, 12 silver, and 5 bronze medals. The Eklavya Training Centre team followed as the runner-up, amassing 44 points with 5 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals.

The four-day championship, held at Patliputra Sports Complex and organised by the District Administration, Patna, under the aegis of the Bihar Sports Department and Bihar State Sports Authority, saw Patna also win the Girls Under-19 Team Championship. Patna scored 38 points (5 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze), while the Gaya team secured the runner-up position with 32 points (4 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze).

In the Girls Under-17 Team Championship, Siwan triumphed with 33 points (6 gold, 1 silver), while Patna finished as the runner-up with 31 points (2 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze). Meanwhile, the West Champaran team clinched the Girls Under-14 Team Championship with 27 points (3 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze), and the Eklavya Training Centre team secured the runner-up spot with 19 points (2 gold, 3 silver).

Lokesh Kumar Jha, District Public Relations Officer, Patna, served as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony, where trophies, medals, and certificates were presented to the winners. Om Prakash, District Sports Officer, Patna and Organising Secretary, welcomed the guests with green plants and souvenirs. The programme was hosted by Abhishek Kumar, N.I.S. Trainer and Physical Education Teacher at Government Higher Secondary School, Panal, Patna.

Om Prakash also announced that starting Sunday, the State-Level Inter-District School Boys Under-17 Athletics Championship would take place at the same venue, with approximately 500 participants, including players, trainers, and managers from 38 districts and the Eklavya Training Centre. A total of 20 technical officials have been assigned by the Bihar State Sports Authority to oversee the event.
