Patna: In a joint operation late Sunday night, Patna police team comprising the Buddha Colony and Kotwali police stations launched a campaign targeting gangs involved in mobile and bike thefts. Kotwali DSP (Law and Order) Krishna Murari Prasad provided details of the operation during a press conference on Monday. He revealed that the Buddha Colony police had arrested three individuals, including a minor, Golu Kumar from New Jakkanpur, and Gaurav Kumar from Nageshwar Colony. Two mobile phones and a tablet were recovered from them. Meanwhile, Kotwali police apprehended Sunny Kumar from Gardanibagh, the leader of the bike theft ring. A master key and two stolen bikes were recovered from him.

According to the information provided, these three individuals were students living in Patna. They became addicted to online games, which led them into significant debt. To repay these debts, they devised a plan to commit theft. The gang would visit various localities under the guise of searching for hostel accommodation. During these visits, they would steal items such as mobile phones, laptops, or other valuables and sell them to shopkeepers for less than half their original value.

The DSP explained that the stolen goods were sold to shopkeepers who would then create fake bills and documents before reselling them. Mobiles were typically sold on OLX, while laptops and tablets were sold directly. The DSP urged the public to exercise caution and thoroughly verify the legitimacy of second-hand goods before purchasing them online.
