Patna: The whole of Bihar is troubled due to less rainfall these days. Farmers are facing the most trouble. The reason for this is that due to lack of rain, the fields have not received enough water. Consequently, they have to resort to alternative irrigation methods. Considering the challenges faced by the farmers, the Bihar government has taken a significant decision. The Bihar government has once again started the diesel subsidy scheme.
Under this scheme, a subsidy of Rs 75 per liter will be provided on diesel. Farmers will receive a subsidy at the rate of Rs 750 per acre. For paddy and jute crops, a subsidy of Rs 1500 per acre will be given for a maximum of 2 irrigations. For other Kharif crops, a subsidy of Rs 2250 per acre will be provided for a maximum of 3 irrigations. Beneficiary farmers will be eligible for a subsidy for the irrigation of up to a maximum of 8 acres, which can range from Rs 9600 to Rs 14500.
To apply for this subsidy, farmers will need their registration number, a photo of the beneficiary, the beneficiary’s residence certificate, and the mobile number linked to their Aadhaar. Additionally, they will need the diesel seller’s receipt and a bank account in the farmer’s name along with a copy of the passbook. Farmers can apply by visiting the official website of the Agriculture Department, navigating to the registration section, and clicking on the ‘Register’ option.
After clicking on ‘Register,’ a new form will open. In this form, farmers should click on the ‘Demography + OTP’ option. They need to fill in all the required information, after which an OTP will be sent for verification. Once verified, the beneficiary’s login ID and password will be created.
The government has decided to give diesel subsidies to support farmers. The Agriculture Department has opened the portal for diesel subsidy applications for farmers from July 26. Farmers are encouraged to apply for the diesel subsidy through this portal.
