Patna: Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Samrat Choudhary on Saturday flagged off electric buses under the Prime Minister’s e-Bus Sewa Scheme along with a new fleet of deluxe buses of the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) at a function organised by the Transport Department at the Veterinary College Ground in Patna.
During the programme, the Chief Minister inaugurated the first electric bus out of the 400 buses sanctioned for Bihar under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs’ Prime Minister’s e-Bus Sewa Scheme. The approved fleet comprises 200 buses in the 12-metre category and 200 buses in the 9-metre category. He also launched 76 deluxe buses from the BSRTC’s newly inducted fleet of 149 buses, including three air-conditioned and 73 non-air-conditioned buses. The total fleet consists of 75 air-conditioned and 74 non-air-conditioned buses.
The newly introduced buses are equipped with modern technology and passenger-friendly facilities, offering a safer, more reliable and comfortable travel experience. BSRTC will operate the deluxe buses on major inter-state routes connecting Bihar with Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Haryana. The expanded fleet is expected to strengthen the corporation’s services and provide commuters with a safer, more affordable and dependable public transport alternative to private travel.
Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Vijendra Prasad Yadav, Transport Minister Damodar Rawat, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Lokesh Kumar Singh, Transport Department Secretary Raj Kumar, BSRTC Administrator Atul Kumar Verma, and senior officials of the Transport Department and BSRTC were present at the event.
