Patna: A remarkable innings by young Bihar batter Akshara Gupta has set a new milestone in women’s domestic cricket. The historic knock came on Thursday at the Sandis Compound Ground in Bhagalpur, where the BCA Women’s Under-19 One-Day Trophy tournament commenced.
Representing her team, Akshara delivered an outstanding performance, scoring an unbeaten 306 runs. Her innings has earned her a special place in women’s domestic cricket and established a new record within the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) tournaments.
During her extraordinary innings, Akshara struck 55 fours and 8 sixes. She scored her runs off just 126 balls at a remarkable strike rate of 242.86, remaining at the crease for a total of 233 minutes.
One of the most striking aspects of her batting was her explosive start. She reached her half-century in just 16 balls and brought up her century in only 34 deliveries, showcasing exceptional confidence and skill.
Bihar Cricket Association President Harshvardhan congratulated Akshara on her achievement, stating that women cricketers from the state are consistently bringing pride to Bihar through their performances. He added that the BCA is committed to providing better platforms for players, and such innings serve as an inspiration for young talent.
BCA Secretary Ziaul Arfeen also praised Akshara, noting that the emergence of such talent at the very start of the Women’s Under-19 One-Day Trophy is a positive sign for cricket in Bihar. He expressed hope for her bright future in the sport.
Akshara Gupta’s innings is now counted among the most memorable performances in women’s domestic cricket and has set a new record in BCA women’s cricket.
Previously, the highest individual score in women’s domestic cricket was held by Mumbai’s Ira Gupta, who scored an unbeaten 346 in a state-level match, including 42 fours and 16 sixes.
With Akshara’s 306 and Ira Gupta’s 346, both innings now stand as shining examples of exceptional batting in women’s domestic cricket, setting new standards and inspiring future players.
