Patna: After the conclusion of the sixth round of the Bihar State Sub-Junior Chess Championship, being held at Litra Valley School under the aegis of the All Bihar Chess Association, Patna’s Aishani Pathak has emerged as the sole leader in the girls’ category with six points.
Mohini Pandit of Saran is in second place with 5.5 points. In the boys’ category, Pratyush and Advik of Patna, along with Jayesh Mishra of Darbhanga, are jointly leading with 5.5 points each. Achintya Kashyap, Arth Bhardwaj, Praneet Sinha, and Ekansh Bhardwaj are tied for second place with five points.
On the top board in the girls’ section, Aishani Pathak defeated Abhishree Deepu in a London System game. Aishani dominated early and gained control within just 15 moves. A mistake by Abhishree on the 13th move, advancing a pawn, cost her a bishop. Despite efforts to recover, she lost another piece on the 31st move and conceded defeat.
On board two, Mohini Pandit defeated Shalini Srivastava in a Sicilian Classical game. A crucial mistake on the 46th move proved costly for Shalini, forcing her into a losing position and eventual resignation.

In the boys’ section, the top-board clash between top seeds Pratyush and Jayesh ended in a draw after a well-balanced contest, with both players agreeing to share the point.
Board two witnessed a thrilling and marathon 89-move Sicilian Classical game, where Patna’s Advik Kumar defeated Tejas Shandilya of Muzaffarpur. In a dramatic endgame, Advik promoted a pawn to a queen on the 80th move, and Tejas resigned nine moves later after losing material.
