Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary chaired a review meeting for the forthcoming Shrawani Mela in Bhagalpur on May 31, 2026.

Bhagalpur: Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Samrat Choudhary reviewed arrangements being made for Shrawani Mela 2026 at a high- level meeting held here today with officials of Banka, Munger and Bhagalpur districts. Senior state government officials of departments involved in mela arrangement beside people representatives of the area were also present in the meeting.
CM directed officials present in the meeting to ensure timely and quality mela arrangements, taking into consideration convenience and safety of pilgrims.
Earlier Nawal Kishor Choudhary, district magistrate, Bhagalpur, Nikhil Dhanraj Nippanikar, district magistrate, Munger besides Navdeep Shukla, district magistrate, Banka through presentation, briefed CM about mela arrangements including safety arrangements for pilgrims being made in their respective districts.
Giving specific directions to participants in the meeting regrading cleanliness, sanitary, food, security, power, health and accommodation arrangements, the CM asked officials to make it sure the pilgrims can have safe and hassle-free pilgrimage. Ensuring better facilities for pilgrims during Shrawani Mela is top priority of government, he added.

He asked officials to explore possibility of developing dharmshalas located at Suiya, Katoria, Chanan besides other dharmshalas located in pilgrim route under tourism policy of government.
The CM informed about progress of construction work of four lane Munger- Bhagalpur-Sabour Ganga Path by concerned officials through presentation in course of the meeting, asked them to do all needful for early resolving whatever problems are there in construction of the planned road.
In course of the meeting CM also reviewed progress of reestablishment plan of famous Vikramshila University. Through a detailed presentation CM was informed about progress made so far towards acquisition of land required for the purpose.
He was also informed about arrangements being made for running a centre of planned university temporarily from campus of Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour. Following review CM directed to speed up process of acquiring land required for reestablishment of Vikramshila University. He directed concerned officials to complete the process early, so that central government could be intimated about land acquisition before June 15.

Earlier on his arrival here CM visited site of Vikramshila Setu to review progress of repair and restoration work of damaged bridge. He directed to ensure early completion of all repair and restoration works so that vehicular traffic movement on the damaged bridge could resume by November 30 this year.
During his visit here CM inaugurated 84 new development projects involving expenditure of Rs 203 crore. Kumar Sailendra, road construction department minister in state government, Ajai Mandal and Girdhari Yadav respectively member of parliament from Bhagalpur and Banka were among those present in the meeting.
