Position holders of Bihar State U-9 Chess Championship.

Patna: The Bihar State Under-9 Boys’ and Girls’ Chess Championship, which had been underway since 30 April 2026 at Pleasant Valley School in Sandalpur, Patna, concluded successfully today.
In the boys’ category, Purnea’s Aryan Kumar emerged champion with an impressive 5.5 points after six rounds. Darbhanga’s Satvik Sangram secured second place with five points, while Rudra Pratap of Saharsa finished third, also with five points.
In the girls’ category, Muzaffarpur’s Disha Kumari claimed the title with a perfect score of five out of five. She sealed her victory by defeating Patna’s Vanshika Maheshwari in the final round. Vanshika, with four points, was declared runner-up. Purnea’s Navya Aakriti and Kishanganj’s Aparna Sharma, both on four points, secured third and fourth positions respectively based on tie-break scores.
The prize distribution ceremony, held after the final round, was attended by Pleasant Valley School Chairman Lalan Kumar Singh, Drug Inspector Devendra Kumar Singh, All Bihar Chess Association Secretary Dharmendra Kumar, Vice-President Rajendra Kumar, Patna District Chess Association President Ajit Kumar Singh, and the school’s Principal Chandra Shekhar Azad. Winners in both categories were honoured with trophies, medals and certificates.
Among others present were All Bihar Chess Association Joint Secretary Shivpriya Bhardwaj, Patna District Chess Association Secretary Vipal Subhashi, Chief Arbiter Manish Kumar, Deputy Chief Arbiter Priyanka Kumari, International Arbiter Alok Priyadarshi, FIDE Arbiter Ashish Raj, Arbiter Jahnavi Raj, along with school staff, parents and players. The ceremony was conducted by Vice-Principal Inderjit Kaur, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Shashinand Kumar.
