Patna: Delhi Public School (DPS Patna East), hosted Matrix 2026 – Inter-School Mathematics Festival on May 2, 2026, in a grand celebration of mathematical talent, logical reasoning and innovation. The event brought together bright students from various schools, offering them a platform to demonstrate their analytical abilities, problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
The festival aimed to foster interest in mathematics among students, encourage logical thinking and promote a healthy competitive spirit. Participants from different schools took part in a range of engaging and challenging mathematical competitions, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm.
The event drew inspiration from the words of Albert Einstein: “Pure Mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.” The quote encouraged students to appreciate the beauty, depth and logical power of mathematics. The programme commenced with a ceremonial welcome of participants and guests.
The distinguished guests included Dr Vijay Kumar, Chief Guest and judge from the Mathematics Department of the College of Commerce, Arts and Science, Patna, and Secretary of the Indian Mathematics and Science Association; Dr Amarendra Narayan (Retd.), Associate Professor, Department of Physics, Patna University; Dr Abhik Singh, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at GDMM, Patliputra University; Ms Tanushree and Mr Sushil Kumar Verma, PhD scholars from National Institute of Technology Patna. The ceremony was conducted in the presence of the school’s Principal, Dr Rakesh Alfred, and Deputy Head Mohammad Ashfaq Iqbal, with the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by discussions on various dimensions of mathematics.

A vibrant cultural segment featuring music, dance and drama was integrated with academic activities such as poster-making, quizzes, ‘Just a Minute’, and a mathematics exhibition, all designed to make the subject more engaging for students.
